Road rules theory test
This test will be completed at the Licensing Centre or regional Licensing Agent when you apply for your learner’s permit. The computerised test consists of 30 multiple choice questions on the road rules and safe driving practice. You should prepare for the test by studying the Drive Safe handbook and taking the online road rules theory test sample quiz.
Motorcycle theory test
This test will be completed at the Licensing Centre or regional Licensing Agent when you apply for your learner’s permit. The test consists of 15 multiple choice questions on road rules that relate to motorcycles. You have to get 12 or more correct to pass. A copy of the theory test questions are provided below. You should prepare for the test by studying the relevant section of the Drive Safe handbook.
Eyesight test
This test will be completed at the Licensing Centre or regional Licensing Agent when you apply for your learner’s permit. If you need any visual aids to pass the eyesight test, your licence will be endorsed to show that you must wear those aids when driving.
Medical examination (if necessary)
When applying for your licence you must declare whether you have any medical conditions and/or take any medication that may affect your ability to drive on your application. We will let you know if you need to undertake a medical examination and will provide instructions on what you need to do
